What to know about gaps stage 2

Stage 2 is very similar to Stage 1 with a few slight additions and modifications. The new foods in this stage are egg yolk and fermented fish or gravlax. After you have been on Stage 1 for at least five days and are no longer experiencing severe intestinal symptoms, try one separated uncooked egg yolk dropped into your stock. If you tolerate this, you can continue increasing the number of egg yolks and trialing additional Stage 2 foods.

With reduced intestinal symptoms, you should be able to tolerate the stews and casseroles allowed on Stage 2.

If at any point you have a return of symptoms, you are going faster than your body is able to heal. When that occurs, stop the new food you just introduced and if symptoms do not improve in 24 hours, return to the previous stage for a couple of days before trialing again.

How long does stage 2 of the gaps diet last?

You should stay on this stage for a minimum of five days and until major intestinal symptoms have disappeared. The number of days you are on Stage 2 is dependent on your individual symptoms.

Do not rush the first three stages! These are the powerhouse healing stages!
