What to know about gaps stage 6

Stage 6 is the final stair before the “landing” of the Full GAPS Diet. Just like all previous introduction stages, introduce new foods while watching for a reaction.

Don’t forget to continue the nutrient dense healing foods of meat stock, fermented foods, and animal fat. These foods you should continue to consume daily through your entire GAPS journey.

How long does stage 6 of the gaps diet last?

You should stay on this stage for a minimum of five days, and have no major intestinal symptoms. As with all the stages, you should be having daily bowel movements that are type of 3 - 4 on the Bristol Stool scale. As you are able to tolerate all the foods on this stage, you can expand this stage to Full GAPS eating.

As with all stages, the number of days you are on Stage 6 is dependent on your individual symptoms

  • Tolerate an increased amount of honey and sweet treats

  • Raw fruit, beginning with a peeled apple, pear, or peach
