Drink Room Temperature Water
When I first wake up, around 7:30 or 8, I drink room temperature, filtered water. I keep a large water filter pitcher in my closet so room temperature water is always ready for me each morning! I drink about 8 to 12 ounces of water, which helps alleviate any brain fog from the night's rest.
If you like warmer water in the morning, you can certainly warm your water on the stove. You can also squeeze a lemon into your water; though I prefer it plain when I'm just waking up.
Oil Pull
After I've finished my water, I oil pull. I try to oil pull for twenty minutes each morning. If you've never oil pulled before, start in smaller increments, and increase slowly as you get used to having the oil in your mouth.
I keep a small jar of organic coconut oil near my bed so it's always ready each morning.
I share any of the excess oil from my fingers with Padfoot, who's usually sleeping next to me. He loves it!
After I have oil pulled for twenty minutes, I spit the oil into the trash can. It's important to not spit the oil into the sink, since it will clog the drains.
When I'm done with my oil pulling, I simply brush my teeth using whatever oil is left and a simple basic toothbrush. Then I floss.

Drink Beet Kvass
I drink 4 ounces of beet kvass every morning. This simple ferment is delicious and a great way to start the day! You can also add a freshly pressed juice or a GAPS Milkshake to this first snack if the beet kvass is not enough.
Stretch or Exercise
After I have finished my beet kvass, I do a series of gentle stretches. You can also go for a short walk or stretch outside. It's best to do this for 15 to 20 minutes, to help your body wake up and get moving again.
Eat When You Are Hungry
My body tells me when it is ready to eat! I wait until I get a clear signal that it is ready to eat before having breakfast.
It's important to wait at least 30 minutes after your beet kvass, juice, or GAPS Milkshake before you eat breakfast.
As for what I eat for breakfast, it varies! It's usually a variation of eggs but can also be leftovers from the night before. You can learn more about what I eat in a day here.
