Many of us have pets, and we want the best for them! Pets do best on good, nourishing foods, and in an environment where you are supporting them. Support could look like understanding and responding to their cues, or feeding them well. It can also look like engaging with them to train and to play, which will also lower their anxiety and let them know you are in charge, so they can enjoy life!
Let me know in the comments if you have a good book you recommend on the subject.
Natural Nutrition for Dogs & Cats
Animals were designed to eat very different foods than processed and cooked kibble. A great book that outlines how to feed your pet safely using a raw food diet. I used this book to create my dog’s raw food diet.
Holistic Aromatherapy for Animals
This book is a great reference for the various essential oils and their safety and use with your pets. I would recommend it for anyone who is using essential oils on or around their pet.
Training the Hard to Train Dog
I really appreciated this for my dog, as he is an independent-minded dog. Very few breeds have this trait, and if present it can make training more difficult. It helped me understand that to get better obedience from my dog, I need to focus on bonding, and my relationship with him.
Think Like Your Dog
This is a small book that was helpful in training my dog. I had trained dogs before, but Padfoot was difficult to train. This was a helpful book to learn about different physical signals your dog is looking for and what signals you may be giving them unconsciously. I am thankful to have this information, as it helps me to calm my dog’s anxieties.
Pottenger’s Cats
This book reports on a study done in from 1932-1942 by Dr. Pottenger. He studied the effect nutrition has on generations of cats. His results mirror health problems we are seeing today, both in humans and in animals. A great read for anyone interested in the effect nutrition has on health, birth defects, and longevity.
